FORSYTH, GA 3-Day Practicum – 134212
May 11 @ 9:00 am - May 13 @ 4:00 pm
Cultivating the Conversation: The Art of Exposition will give us all something to talk about this summer! Together we’ll celebrate ways to cultivate conversations at every level, with every child, on any topic — academic or not. We will focus on tools that make starting conversations easy, natural, and fruitful.
As we continue to explore what it means to educate classically every day, we’ll focus on exposition this summer, thinking about the importance of reading and writing as we emphasize communication. Mornings will explore on-going ways to teach reading skills to all ages; afternoons will give practice in inventing, arranging, and elocuting our thoughts more formally in writing.
While you learn, your children learn, too! Economically-priced day camps are available for students of all ages. Your students are sure to enjoy the group learning environment, whether they are being cared for in our nursery, exploring art in our Art Start camp, memorizing and drawing God’s world in our Creative Cartography camps, or participating in our academic camps for older students. Advance registration for student camps is required.
Several of our student camps have fresh new looks this Practicum season! We’ve got an exciting day planned for all our students, full of learning activities, projects, games, and fun. Parents are responsible for picking children up and providing lunch during the one-hour lunch break.
Nursery (0–2 years)
Classical Conversations provides quality nursery care for your infants and toddlers so you can enjoy your Parent Practicum. Before dropping off your child, please label all personal belongings. Parents are welcome to pick up and drop off infants as needed. Please bring: Any needed baby items in a labeled bag and a bottle and/or cup with your child’s name clearly marked. A snack will be provided daily. Parents are responsible for picking children up and providing lunch during the one-hour lunch break.
Art Start (3–5 years)
Your littlest learners will have a blast at our newly re-named camp for 3-5-year-olds! Through art explorations each day, campers will learn about basic shapes and will dabble in lots of art projects to bring the learning to life. Along with games, songs, memory work, and play times, Art Start campers will enjoy using all their senses to explore the world around them and will create lots of art projects to share at home.
Creative Cartography (6–8 years)
Your 6-8-year-olds will love exploring the world with our Creative Cartography Camp! With a new cycle-specific focus, this camp has been redesigned to introduce the geography of the upcoming Foundations Cycle. This summer, campers will learn about the United States in particular as they review general geography terms and sharpen their map-making skills. Campers will draw, play games, complete art projects, and explore facts that make US geography leap off the page!
Featured Camp: Story Craft (9-12 and 13-17 years)
Don’t you just love a good story? Campers will be able to explore stories in more depth this summer as part of our brand new creative writing camp, Story Craft! Designed to help your camper uncover the “mysteries” of good writing while crafting their own story, campers learn to recognize and reproduce the elements of good storytelling. We’ll read stories, illustrate stories, dissect stories, and discover stories all around us. We’ll play with words, act out our stories, and work on the best ways to tell a great story to an audience. Story Craft will be a page-turner!
