SANTA BARBARA, CA 3-Day Practicum – 132335

May 18 @ 8:30 am - May 20 @ 4:00 pm

Cultivating the Conversation: The Art of Exposition will give us all something to talk about this summer! Together we’ll celebrate ways to cultivate conversations at every level, with every child, on any topic — academic or not. We will focus on tools that make starting conversations easy, natural, and fruitful.

Parent Practicum is a FREE, multi-day conference for parents on classical, Christian homeschooling. You’ll find a community of local families, eager to explore the classical model of education and tools that make learning all subjects with all their children satisfying.

**Please note**  Please only mark yourself as a Director if you will actually be attending Academic Orientation on the third day.  If your level of Academic Orientation is not offered, then please DO NOT mark yourself as a Director for this practicum.  Thank you!

**We have an exciting NEW add to our local practicum this year… We will feature special breakout sessions in the afternoon on our third day together.**

Below are some possible breakout sessions:

> Navigating C3 (Classical Conversations Connected)
> How to get the most out of your Foundations Guide
> Essentials and digging deeper
> How can LTW (Lost Tools of Writing) help my student be a better writer
> The “Challenge” years
> Homeschooling through high school and then what…
> How to Home School with a Crowd
> What a Typical Homeschool Day Looks Like

*More information will be provided as we draw closer to Practicum.

While you learn, your children learn, too! Economically-priced day camps are available for students of all ages.

***Advance registration for student camps is required.***

Nursery (0–2)

Classical Conversations provides quality nursery care for your infants and toddlers so you can enjoy your Parent Practicum. Before dropping off your child, please label all personal belongings. Parents are welcome to pick up and drop off infants as needed.

Please bring: Any needed baby items in a labeled bag and a bottle and/or cup with your child’s name clearly marked, as well as any necessary snacks for the day.

Art Start (3–5)

Through art explorations each day, campers will learn about basic shapes and will dabble in lots of art projects to bring the learning to life. Along with games, songs, memory work, and play times, Art Start campers will enjoy using all their senses to explore the world around them, and will create lots of art projects to share at home.

Please bring a water bottle with your child’s name and a morning & afternoon snack.

Creative Cartography (6–8)

With a new cycle-specific focus, this camp has been redesigned to introduce the geography of the upcoming Foundations Cycle. This summer, campers will learn about the United States in particular as they review general geography terms and sharpen their map-making skills. Campers will draw, play games, complete art projects, and explore facts that make US geography leap off the page!

Please bring a water bottle with your child’s name and a morning & afternoon snack.

Story Craft (9-14)

Don’t you just love a good story? Campers will be able to explore stories in more depth this summer as part of our brand new creative writing camp, Story Craft! Designed to help your camper uncover the “mysteries” of good writing while crafting their own story, campers learn to recognize and reproduce the elements of good storytelling. We’ll read stories, illustrate stories, dissect stories, and discover stories all around us. We’ll play with words, act out our stories, and work on the best ways to tell a great story to an audience. Story Craft will be a page-turner!

Please bring a water bottle with your child’s name and a morning & afternoon snack.

Students Helpers (14-17)

The *success* of our Practicum events rely heavily upon our fabulous student helpers. Earning service credit hours along with immense gratitude, your student can serve in a variety of ways. Everything, including training and snacks, is provided for our faithful student helpers!

Student Helper next steps: Once your student is registered, you will be contacted within a week or two by the Practicum Coordinator regarding your student’s next steps for serving.
